Track the family budget automatically from card alert texts
A developer built a budget bot on Hermes Agent that reads the credit card text alerts and answers him and his wife on WhatsApp. Charges from January to August, about 1,400 of them, became about 420 merchant rules, and for 19 merchants the bot always asks first. AI interprets the questions while plain Python does all the math. The core was done in one day, but refunds and installments are untested, and the paper budget runs alongside for two weeks.

How to do it
- Paste the prompt into the tool, and replace the text in brackets with your own.
- Read the answer through. Do not send, delete or publish anything until you have seen it yourself.
- Check the original before you trust a figure, a name or a date.
Try it with Hermes
Build a budget assistant that reads my card alerts, files each purchase under the right category and shows what is left of the month's budget. All math must happen in plain code, not AI. Ask me about unknown merchants. Show me the category rules and a test run with real alerts before anything is changed in the budget. You are done when a new purchase lands in the right category and I am told what is left.
