Add to-dos from Telegram with an n8n flow

On Hacker News a user asked how he could add things to his to do list at home through Telegram without setting up OpenClaw. Another user replied that he does exactly that with n8n. A Telegram bot receives the message, a language model interprets it, and the task lands in Todoist. He thinks a platform such as n8n or windmill.dev gives more control than OpenClaw, but he does not show the flow itself.

What was done

On Hacker News a user asked how he could add things to his to do list at home through Telegram without setting up OpenClaw. Another user replied that he does exactly that with n8n. A Telegram bot receives the message, a language model interprets it, and the task lands in Todoist. He thinks a platform such as n8n or windmill.dev gives more control than OpenClaw, but he does not show the flow itself.

How to do it

  1. Paste the prompt into the tool, and replace the text in brackets with your own.
  2. Read the answer through. Do not send, delete or publish anything until you have seen it yourself.
  3. Check the original before you trust a figure, a name or a date.

Try it with n8n

Build a flow in [n8n or similar] where a message to [Telegram bot] becomes a task in [to do app]. Use a language model to pull out the title, due date and project from the message. Only messages from [my user] are accepted. Show me the flow and three test messages with their interpretation before it is switched on. You are done when a message like [example] creates the right task and a short reply in Telegram.

Replace text in brackets with your own.

Hermes installed Home Assistant on a Mac Mini, added a Zigbee radio over USB and built a local system with a tablet, voice feedback and panic buttons by the stairs and in the bedroom. The agent wrote the code and a dashboard, but the post does not say how the system was tested.

  • Make a commented video of your last chess game

A developer on Hacker News built a setup with Claude Code and Stockfish. He gives it audio notes or text from the game and a vague instruction such as analyse my last lichess game, and gets a commented video of the game. The analysis reflects on what he was thinking during play. It takes about an hour, and the logs show the last game would have cost about 15 dollars at API prices, but the result is not perfect.
