What was done
On 21 February 2026 u/SenseiCain writes in r/ClaudeAI that he partly managed to plan a week of groceries with Claude on the Mac and in the iOS app. In the iOS app he gave his body weight, height, activity level and goal weight. Claude set the macros, asked about dietary restrictions and how often he cooks, and built the meals with macros and portion sizes. The list became an Excel file he sent to the MacBook, because iOS does not have full MCP support. On the Mac, Claude checked the latest HEB order history and asked him to log in himself. It then added bananas, milk and peanut butter, with organic first. That worked. When it had to add the whole Excel sheet, Google MCP was slow. A snippet showed 3 items in 7 minutes. It got through 34 items before he stopped. It crashed repeatedly. He assumes a timeout. Claude could not confirm that, but suggested a timeout was likely.
How it went
He will use Claude up to the grocery list, and then shop himself or type the order himself. He writes that the list usually takes half an hour or so, several times a week, and that he often skips it and buys the same things. He mentions a wish for a prompt covering the next 4 days, with burgers, lentils, a roast and new recipes from The Golden Balance. That is not what he did.
Worth knowing
Body weight, height, activity level and goal weight are not given as figures. The snippet of 3 items and 7 minutes is not the time for all 34. The post does not say the cart was paid. He logged in himself.
How to do it
- Ask for a week of meals from what you want to eat. Leave the list in a sheet you can read.
- If the web shop is used, log in yourself. Ask it to add a few items first, and read the cart.
- Stop if it crashes. Do not pay until you say yes. Shop from the list yourself if the cart is not finished.
