A text at lunch that memory was full
Adam got a message from Grok Bot at lunch. Nearly 28 GB of memory was in use, 22 Python processes were running, and iCloud wanted 10 GB. The bot asked before it touched anything, and left ChatGPT running.

What was done
On 6 October 2026 Adam (@Adamdesgns) writes that Grok Bot texted him while he was eating lunch at a construction site. Nearly 28 GB of memory was in use, 22 Python processes were running, and iCloud needed 10 GB. The bot said what was using the memory and what could be closed, and asked before it touched anything. It remembered that he had said ChatGPT should stay open. He replied with what could be shut down, and warned that the Python processes might belong to Claude. The profile says Mississippi.
How it went
He got the breakdown and directed the shutdown himself from lunch. The post does not say how much memory was freed afterwards.
Worth knowing
The bot was supposed to ask first. The Python processes might belong to another tool, so a list of names is necessary before anything is stopped.
How to do it
- Ask the agent to measure memory and list the processes by name.
- Mark what must stay open.
- Say yourself which names may be stopped.
Try it with Grok Bot
Measure memory use on [machine]. List the processes using the most, by name. Do not stop anything. I will say which names you may stop. Leave [program] running.
Replace text in brackets with your own.
Done when. You have a list of names, and only the names you approved have been stopped.
Safety rule. No process is stopped until you have approved the name.
