Claude Code wired the test, PlaceCall booked the line

What was done

On 23 September 2026 the author writes that he wanted one difficult call before letting anything loose on 15 venues. He is not an engineer, so Claude Code did the wiring. For each tool he gave it the docs, and Claude Code set up the API calls. Every tool called his own mobile. The brief was the same, close to default settings: call a dentist office and book a child's checkup, weekdays only, after 3 because of school. He played the front desk. First he offered the same day at 1 or 2, which breaks the rule. Then he asked for the last name, spelled out. Then he offered next Tuesday at 4 or 5, and the agent was supposed to pick. A pass meant a weekday after 3, the name spelled right and on the booking, and a clear confirmation. PlaceCall turned down 1, booked a weekday after 3, spelled the name and got it onto the appointment. The API returned success_booked. It repeated a sentence once and kept asking for the date and the time zone after he had given them. It was still the only one that booked on a real phone line without him setting anything up. Retell said no to 1, spelled the name and picked 4 on its own, but the test was a web call. He did not finish the ID check required for a real number, and the tool wanted a card. Ring-a-Ding booked too, a bit loose at the end, and costs 19 dollars a month plus his own OpenAI key. AgentPhone called after he put in about 10 dollars, spelled the name twice and hung up without asking for a time. Vapi never called. Bland locked him out during verification. CALL-E reported that the task was not completed. ClawCall did not book. Three of the eight never made a real phone call. The test took about a day and a half, mostly on signups. The 15 venues are still ahead of him.

How it went

PlaceCall booked on a real line and the API said success_booked. Retell booked only in the browser. The 15 venues have not been called.

Worth knowing

This was his own phone and a script, not a patient. The last name is not given. About 10 dollars and 19 dollars a month are what he states for two of the tools. He has not run the 15 venues.

How to do it

1. Have Claude Code set up a test call to your own number, from the docs.
2. Play the difficult party yourself, with a time that breaks the rule you set.
3. Read the API result. Do not call other numbers and do not pay until you have said yes.
