The summary is written into the git repo

mindcrime asks ChatGPT to write a summary of the conversation into a file in the right git repo. It has GitHub access to 3 or 4 repos and reads AGENTS.md.

Done with ChatGPTModerate

What was done

On 17 October 2026 mindcrime writes that he asks odd questions, and afterwards asks ChatGPT to write a summary and put it in a file in the right git repo. ChatGPT uses the GitHub MCP and has access to 3 or 4 of his repos. Each repo has an AGENTS.md. A custom instruction says that at the start of each session, or when he asks, it should read the right AGENTS.md and follow it. The repos hold files that collect conversations, decisions and thoughts about later work. AGENTS.md points at those files.

How it went

He writes that this makes the answers more reliable than trusting memory. He does not give a count of errors before and after.

Worth knowing

The repos are not named. 3 or 4 is his own range. The comment does not say every summary was correct.

How to do it

  1. Put an AGENTS.md in [repo] that points at the note files.
  2. Ask ChatGPT to write the summary into [file] after the conversation.
  3. Read the file before you push anything.

Try it with ChatGPT

Read AGENTS.md in [repo]. Write a summary of this conversation to [file]. Do not push and do not deploy until I say yes.

Replace text in brackets with your own.

Done when. The summary is a draft, and nothing has been pushed unless you said yes.

Safety rule. ChatGPT does not push and does not deploy. You read the file first.

u/Bulldagshunter had Codex work through a defect review. Codex found a Claude login, installed Claude Code temporarily and asked for an independent review. The first pass was stuck in plan mode. The second pass ran tests in a sandbox, with the Nexus library outside. He thinks Codex should have asked first.
