Time your repeating tasks before you automate any of them
An online seller on eight marketplaces listed every repeating task and timed them before building anything in n8n. Checking order notification emails six times a day, three minutes each time, came to about 94 hours a year. The fix was a two step flow that writes each notification into a Google spreadsheet. They skip anything that saves less than five times its setup time, but the post also sells a workbook about the method.

How to do it
- Paste the prompt into the tool, and replace the text in brackets with your own.
- Read the answer through. Do not send, delete or publish anything until you have seen it yourself.
- Check the original before you trust a figure, a name or a date.
Try it with n8n
List the tasks I repeat in my business. For each one, ask me how often I do it and how many minutes it takes, then work out hours per year. Also estimate how many hours it takes to automate it. Show me the table sorted by hours per year before you suggest what to build first. You are done when I have picked one task that saves at least five times its setup time.
