Sort thousands of old photos without deleting anything

A user pointed Claude Code at his Pictures folder with 41,208 photos from 9 years. The agent read the photos, wrote a script and ran it on his own machine. The first pass found 6,412 duplicate pairs, including forwarded images and re-saved screenshots, plus 3,907 blurry shots. The rest was sorted into albums, and 312 photos were picked out as worth keeping. Nothing was deleted, and 10,319 files are waiting for his own review.

How to do it

  1. Paste the prompt into the tool, and replace the text in brackets with your own.
  2. Read the answer through. Do not send, delete or publish anything until you have seen it yourself.
  3. Check the original before you trust a figure, a name or a date.

Try it with Claude Code

Go through my photo folder and find duplicates, blurry shots and screenshots saved more than once. Sort the rest into albums by year and event. Do not delete anything, but move what you suggest removing to a separate review folder, and make a list with counts for each group. Also pick out the best photos into their own folder. You are done when I know how much space I can save and have seen the suggestions.
