Tidy a month of receipts into a list before you book them in Fiken. ChatGPT does not suggest account codes unless you have said which ones you use.

Have the documents ready, and read the answer critically before you use it.

This is a way of working from the editors, not advice from Skatteetaten, NAV, Altinn or an accountant. Check figures, deadlines and decisions against the original.

How to do it

  1. 1

Collect receipts and invoices for the month. Note the date, supplier, amount, VAT as printed, and what the purchase was for. Leave out customers' personal details.

  2. 2

Paste the list and ask for groups, for example goods, software, travel, and a separate pile for anything that is not obvious.

  3. 3

If you know which accounts you use in Fiken, paste that short list and ask for a suggestion only where it matches something you provided. Otherwise the account field stays empty.

  4. 4

Ask for what is missing before you can book it: a receipt without a VAT specification, an unknown purpose, or an amount that does not add up.

  5. 5

Book it in Fiken yourself, or send the tidied list to an accountant. Check that the VAT code matches the receipt.

Example prompt

Example prompt

I use Fiken, a Norwegian bookkeeping service, and I want to prepare September's receipts. Here is a list with date, supplier, amount and purpose, without personal details:

[Paste the list]

Group them. Do not invent account numbers. Mark receipts where VAT or the purpose is unclear, so I can check the receipt before I book it.
